Name: Lucianna
My vote:
#1 - NO!!!
#2 - YES with caveats
#3 - NO

#1 - I am a VERY strong NO on this one. Some others made great points about the problems of elitism, special status, and the need for ACTIVE raiders. Boxes are as much a danger to the raid as they are a help. I have been in groups that supposedly have a box as a healer, even though the box never heals anyone except their owner. The rest of us just die. Although less obvious, this is true about boxed Bards to some extent as well.

And there is the problem of abuse. Some I fear just "box" so they can get yet another alt preferentially geared up and are influential enough to get leadership to agree. It may sound harsh to those who sincerely just want to get geared up so they can better help the guild, but they can still gear up when items go to Alt or Greed rolls.

#2 - I like this IF it is restricted to high value greed items only. I think it could be a great way to drain large amounts of dkp from those with tons of it, in order to keep dkp levels more competitive for everyone else.

#3 - I am not sure what problem this is addressing, but I don't like seeing "Raider Boxes" given any precedence.

Additional Notes:

1. We should make Member to Raider status automatic. The easiest way would be to say after you reach xxx DKP you move to raider status. This is information we already collect and is easily accessible by all. We should also demote back to Member if the raider is not consistent, and maybe that could be a judgement left to class leads. If a player gets raider status, lots of gear, then goes away for 2 months waiting for the next expansion to reappear, they should return to find they are now a Member once more.

2. We should NOT impose further rules ad hoc on the fly as they can have unintended consequences. One example was the decision to give preference to the "highest level" characters on spells when Kunark came out. In my case I lost spells that would still be tremendously helpful, and I have

I can't speak for what others may be doing but I can speak for myself. I ONLY use a Main Assist. But if the MA isn't setting a target I sometimes, very reluctantly, have no choice but to find one on my own. And that happens way too often.

1. The MA should find a target quickly.
2. The MA should only target a mob AFTER the tank has called dps in. We should not all have to stare at our chat window looking for a dps call. Whenever a MA target pops up, we should be good to attack.
3. The MA should never target a charm break, or should move quickly off of it if they do. We should not all have to be studying the buffs on every mob before attacking if we are assisting through the MA.
4. When possible, the MA should have a new target selected before the current target dies so there is no pause in the dps.

If we can improve our MA performance, people will not feel it necessary to look for targets on their own. And we won't hear people admonishing us to "wait for the dps call" or "don't kill my pet!!!" If anyone does screw up, the only reason should be that they are not using the MA as they ought to. And a good MA should make screw ups nearly impossible, and make the entire raid much more time and mana efficient, with a far higher QOL for all!

Why has this changed from 5 pm? I and I assume others joined the guild specifically because the original hours worked for us. Others joining should accept the established raid hours.

"5 points for being at the raid when it officially ends."

Does this mean the end of the scheduled time e.g. 3 hours? Or is it over whenever the raid leaders declare it officially ended regardless how long it runs over?

One suggestion might be to award the 5 dkp at 7:30 pm and offer a bonus for those who can stay longer if needed.

Just like to clarify as some of us have hard cutoff times negotiated with our spouses!

I first played on the Test Server as a Wizard (in 1998 I guess it was).

My first character on live in 1999 was a Monk and subsequently I raided as a Bard and as a Rogue.

My most accomplished character was an Enchanter who served as the class lead in Fires of Heaven under Furor back during their heyday. That was far less glamorous than it sounds since it really just meant that I was the one to "tash and die" on every big boss pull.

I have been away from EQ for many years now, but am having fun relearning all that I have forgotten about this amazing game. It is even more amazing in retrospect considering how many would-be successors have come and gone while the EQ magic has still never been matched!

It feels right to go full circle and play Wizard once more. Thanks for the opportunity to relive that experience with you.

In real life, I am a software developer and ex-scientist.
